1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how TrueNorth Roadside Rescue ("TrueNorth", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and safeguards personal information when you use truenorthroadside.ca, our linked online service-request experience, communicate with dispatch, or receive towing and roadside services from us.
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details such as your name, telephone number and email address.
- Service-request details, including pickup location, destination, vehicle make/model, vehicle condition, requested service, notes, photos or other information you choose to provide.
- Location information that is necessary to dispatch a driver and deliver roadside or towing service.
- Transaction and billing records. If you pay electronically, payment information may be handled by a payment processor, and we may receive transaction status, receipts or related records.
- Communications with dispatch, support or drivers, including service-related messages and records needed to document authorization or resolve a complaint.
- Technical information such as browser type, device information, IP address and website activity when permitted by your cookie preferences.
3. How we use information
We use personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, including to:
- provide quotes, dispatch towing or roadside assistance, communicate ETAs and complete requested services;
- verify service authorization, vehicle details and destination instructions;
- process transactions, issue receipts and maintain business records;
- respond to questions, complaints, disputes, insurance inquiries or legal requests;
- protect customers, drivers, vehicles, our systems and the public from fraud, misuse or safety risks;
- maintain and improve our website and services; and
- measure website usage through analytics only after you opt in to optional analytics cookies.
4. Consent and your choices
We seek meaningful consent where required. Some information is necessary to provide a service you request—for example, your location and vehicle details when dispatching a tow. Optional uses, such as website analytics, are presented separately so you can accept or reject them.
You may withdraw consent for optional processing at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that is required to complete a service already requested or to meet legal obligations.
7. Retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including service delivery, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, fraud prevention and legal or regulatory obligations.
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Access, correction and privacy requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or ask questions about our privacy practices. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
To submit a privacy request, email Info@truenorthroadside.ca with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
9. Service providers and cross-border processing
Some technology or service providers may process information outside your province or outside Canada. Where that occurs, information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed. We remain responsible for using service providers appropriate to the sensitivity and purpose of the information.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
